The Monthly Book: November Blues
/REVIEW BY RYNEISHA MCKENZIE, FNN REPORTER, WOODRIDGE BUREAU.
April 8, 2011. I like to read Sharon M. Draper's books because she gives a lot of details that make you feel like you are actually in the book. November Blues has two main characters. The main character is November, a 16-year-old girl who gets pregnant the night before her boyfriend, Josh, dies because he jumps out a two story window. Josh's cousin, Jericho, is very sad because Josh was his best friend. The book made me ask a lot of questions about why Josh would jump out of the window. To me, it didn't make sense for him to do it.
My favorite part of the book is when November was having her baby, because it felt like I was in there with her and that I could read her thoughts.
I would recommend this book to other students because it talks about emotions and it makes you feel like you can't put it down. The author tells how November feels about her pregnancy, why she feels that way and what made her feel a certain way. I learned that when someone is pregnant she has to eat lots of vegetables, be careful not to fall and be ready for sore feet.
